The Italian
Space Agency (ASI), in collaboration with the Kenya Space Agency (KSA), has
announced the launch of a specialized training course on CubeSats at the Luigi
Broglio Space Center (BSC) in Malindi, Kenya. The initiative is part of the
Italy-Kenya intergovernmental agreement aimed at enhancing collaboration in
space science and technology.
The two-week
course will not only provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of
CubeSat design and development, but also feature sessions led by experts from
ASI, including Alberto Fedele and Giuseppe Leccese, alongside professors from
Sapienza University of Rome, such as Paolo Marzioli and Lorenzo Frezza.
The course will
host 30 students, organized into six teams, representing various Kenyan
universities. Participants hail from institutions including Kirinyaga
University, Multimedia University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and
Technology, Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, Technical University of
Kenya, University of Eastern Africa-Baraton, Kenyatta University, and the
University of Nairobi. Additionally, technical staff from KSA will join in the
training, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge
sharing and innovation.
The program is
overseen by Engineer Munzer Jahjah from ASI and Charles Mwangi from KSA, both
of whom are dedicated to ensuring that Kenyan engineers are well-equipped to
contribute to the growing field of CubeSat development.
