MTN
South Sudan has reiterated its commitment to promoting societal development
through sports by actively participating in the inaugural Sports Financing
Conference, launched by the Ministry of Sports in partnership with the Bank of
South Sudan. The three-day event, which began three days brought together
government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, state ministers,
corporate leaders, and development partners to explore innovative ways to
finance and support the growth of sports in South Sudan.
Represented
by Mayor Angong, Chief Legal and Corporate Affairs Officer, and Denis Lejugbo,
Brands & Communications Manager, MTN South Sudan delivered a compelling
presentation and participated in a dynamic panel discussion. Their
contributions highlighted how MTN has effectively leveraged technology to
promote sports and empower communities across the country.
Through
strategic collaborations with various sports federations, MTN South Sudan has
provided impactful sponsorships that have increased visibility and awareness
for its partners while fostering peace, unity, and development. The company’s
initiatives have not only supported athletic excellence but also served as a
platform for social cohesion, reflecting the transformative power of sports in
addressing broader societal challenges.
The
Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Dr. Joseph Geng Akech, expressed gratitude
to MTN South Sudan and other partners for their contributions, emphasizing that
the conference aligns with the government’s vision of leveraging sports as a
tool for peacebuilding and national unity.
“Sports
have the unique ability to bring people together, transcend differences, and
promote a shared sense of purpose. This conference marks a significant step in
harnessing the potential of sports to foster lasting peace and development in
South Sudan,”
remarked Hon. Dr. Akech during his address.
The
conference, attended by a wide array of stakeholders, served as a platform for
dialogue on sustainable sports financing models and the role of public-private
partnerships in driving sports development.
