Botswana has partnered with the United Kingdom Government to host a high-level cyber resilience workshop under the Africa Cyber Programme. The two-day intensive simulation brought together key ICT stakeholders to test and enhance Botswana's preparedness against sophisticated cyber threats through realistic crisis scenarios.

The innovative workshop immersed participants in a dynamic, hands-on environment that replicated complex cyberattack situations. Teams comprising government officials, private sector experts, and cybersecurity professionals collaborated to detect threats, implement response protocols, and execute recovery procedures during the simulated incidents. The exercise evaluated both technical response capabilities and strategic decision-making processes under pressure.

Botswana's Minister of Communications, Knowledge and Technology emphasized the workshop's timeliness, stating: "As digital transformation accelerates across Africa, such collaborative capacity-building initiatives are critical for developing homegrown solutions to cybersecurity challenges." The simulation particularly focused on identifying gaps in national cyber defense systems and strengthening coordination between various response entities.

UK Government representatives highlighted the program's role in fostering international cybersecurity cooperation, noting Botswana's progressive approach to digital security governance. The workshop concluded with participants developing a comprehensive roadmap outlining critical requirements for Botswana to achieve robust national cyber resilience. Key focus areas included enhanced threat intelligence sharing frameworks, upgraded incident response protocols, and specialized cybersecurity skills development programs.

This engagement forms part of Botswana's broader strategy to position itself as a regional leader in cybersecurity best practices while safeguarding its growing digital economy against evolving cyber threats.
