The International ICT Expo and Fintech Festival 2022 has officially opened in the Zambian capital, Lusaka.
Organized by the Payment and Fintech Association of Zambia in partnership with the Information and Communication Technology Association of Zambia, this year's event is held on the theme: Enhancing Digital Security, Reliance and Skill for Sustainable Digital Transformation through innovation, collaboration, and inclusion.
The opening event witnessed the attendance of industry players, including the Minister of Technology and Science, Felix Mutati, the MTN Fintech Managing Director, Komba Malukutila, the Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank, Sonny Zulu, the Bank of Zambia Director of Payments Systems, Mirriam Kamuhuza.
In his opening address, Minister of Technology and Science Felix Mutati emphasized the government's commitment to driving financial inclusion through "public and private partnership that will further promote increased interoperability, methodical and innovative solutions that work to the benefit of all Zambians."
The MTN Fintech Managing Director, Komba Malukutila, during his remarks, called for collaboration between Fintech and Banks, adding the collaborative efforts and partnership between Fintech and Banks are of the utmost importance to drive the digital agenda and increase financial inclusion to all unserved and remote areas of the country to ensure every Zambian can enjoy the benefits of a modern connected life.
