Noni Hub, an innovative startup center, has been adjudged the winner of the MTN Ayoba MoMo Accelerator Awards held at the Iconic MTN
House in Accra.
Emerging out of the final five selected startups of the competition
as the overall winner from the Top Tech Hub Award Category of the competition,
the Wa-based innovative startup hub took home a whooping GHS 50,000 cash prize and a certificate and a lifetime partnership with MTN.
The other four award-winning startups in the competition were
Africa Global Radio – Most Liked App Category, Tudu Online Shopping
–Best MoMo Solution Micro App Category, Smithfield Agribusiness – Expert
Choice Award Category, and Desmako Snail – Top Ayoba Influencer Category.
Awardees were given cash prizes of GHS 20,000, certificates, and a lifetime
partnership with MTN, including an opportunity to put their micro apps on the
Ayoba platform, which has over 2,5 million active customers in Ghana and
21 million across Africa.
The Chief Digital Officer at MTN Ghana, Dario Bianchi, explained that MTN Ayoba came up with the accelerator to encourage all local
business operators in Africa to take advantage of the Ayoba platform to
digitalize their products and services to reach more clients and to meet the
prevailing fast digital world.
He said MTN Ghana aims to help local entrepreneurs with
ideas in the digital space grow their marketing channels by reaching a larger
audience via the Ayoba platform.
Mr. Bianchi further revealed that the MTN Ayoba App would soon be upgraded to give a new refreshing experience to startups and users. According to him, the upcoming changes on the Ayoba platform will place emphasis on the visibility of micro apps instead of
just messaging.
The startups were involved in an eight-week competition
where MTN Ayoba worked with them on various entrepreneurial businesses, ranging
from Agriculture and entertainment to productivity, to help onboard them onto
the Ayoba App to serve customers.
The competition was created by MTN Ghana and Ayoba for all
startup hubs across the country to bring forward their digital solutions by
leveraging the Ayoba App to scale their businesses.
In her remarks, the Digital Platform Manager at MTN Ghana,
Winnie Dzidonu, expressed MTN Ghana’s appreciation to all judges and startups
for their support in making the maiden edition of the MTN Ayoba Accelerator a
success.
