The
Vice Chancellor of The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and
Technology, Maulilio Kipanyula, has commended the Government of Tanzania for
its continued investment in science, technology and innovation.
Kipanyula
made the remarks during a memorandum of understanding signing ceremony between
the institution and the Dodoma City Council, where he highlighted several
national initiatives aimed at strengthening higher education and research
capacity.

Among
the programmes cited were the Higher Education for Economic Transformation
Project (HEET), the Samia Scholarship and the Samia Scholarship Extended, which
he said are supporting young scientists and expanding opportunities in emerging
academic fields.
According
to Kipanyula, the initiatives are contributing to the development of national
expertise in areas such as data science and artificial intelligence, while also
strengthening the country’s higher education system.

The
collaboration between NM-AIST and Dodoma City Council is expected to further
support research, innovation and capacity building as Tanzania continues to
invest in science and technology-driven development.
