South
Africa’s Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Kenny Morolong has arrived in
Nairobi, Kenya, to participate in the TikTok Safer Internet Summit 2026.
The
two-day summit, held under the theme “2026 SaferTogether: Innovation and
Safety,” brings together government officials, content regulators, and trust
and safety professionals from across Sub-Saharan Africa to deliberate on
emerging digital safety challenges and strategies for fostering a safer online
environment.

The
gathering provides a platform for policymakers, regulators and technology
stakeholders to exchange ideas on strengthening online safety frameworks,
improving digital governance and enhancing collaboration in tackling harmful
online content.
Participants
are also expected to discuss the role of innovation and policy coordination in
protecting internet users while supporting the growth of the digital ecosystem
across the region.
Morolong’s
participation reflects South Africa’s engagement in regional conversations
aimed at promoting responsible digital platforms and safeguarding users in an
increasingly connected digital landscape.
