The
World Health Organization (WHO) African Region, in collaboration with the
Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), has convened
health experts in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to assess the joint
continental response to mpox.
The
meeting aims to strengthen partner coordination and support for African
countries in managing health emergencies.
Since 2024, the multicountry mpox response has
underscored the need for robust continental strategies to address outbreaks
effectively.
Experts
at the review are drawing lessons from past interventions to improve
preparedness and enhance response mechanisms for future health emergencies
across Africa.
