The Minister of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital Affairs of Senegal, Alioune Sall, has held discussions with Aminata Kane, the newly appointed Senior Vice President of Visa for the West and Central Africa region, on strengthening collaboration to advance financial inclusion and digital innovation in the country.

The meeting focused on potential areas of cooperation between the ministry and Visa, including plans to open a Visa office in Dakar and expand support for Senegal’s growing fintech ecosystem.

During the discussions, the minister welcomed Kane’s appointment, noting that it reflects her distinguished professional career and highlights the growing influence of Senegalese women in global leadership roles.

Officials from the Ministère de la communication, des Télécommunications et du Numérique also outlined the key priorities of the government’s New Deal for Technology initiative, which seeks to accelerate the development of the country’s digital economy and strengthen technological innovation.

Visa representatives shared preliminary insights from a regional study currently being conducted by the company, with full recommendations expected to be released at the end of June. The study is aimed at providing practical guidance for governments on strengthening digital payments and financial ecosystems across the region.

Both parties agreed to organise technical workshops to define a structured long-term partnership framework focused on supporting fintech development, strengthening digital policy implementation and expanding financial inclusion initiatives in Senegal.
