The Agence Nationale de la Cybersécurité (Togo) has hosted a delegation from the European Union and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to engage with participants of a cybersecurity certification training programme aimed at strengthening digital resilience in the country.

The delegation, which included Arouna Roshanian and Bettina Maier Neme, joined Gbota Gwaliba, Director General of the National Cybersecurity Agency, during a visit to meet the third cohort of trainees. The cohort, composed entirely of women, includes 18 professionals and students undergoing intensive preparation for the international ISO 27035 Lead Incident Manager certification, which focuses on managing and responding effectively to cybersecurity incidents.

During the engagement, the partners discussed the progress of the training programme and its impact on the participants’ professional development. Beneficiaries highlighted the opportunity to strengthen their technical capabilities and apply international best practices in incident response and information security management.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts under Togo’s national cybersecurity strategy to build certified expertise among professionals in both the public and private sectors. The programme aims to enhance the protection of information systems across government institutions and businesses while contributing to the development of a stronger cybersecurity ecosystem in the country.

Implemented by the Ministère de l'Efficacité du Service Public et de la Transformation Numérique (Togo) in partnership with Agence Togo Digital and supported by GIZ through the ProDigiT project, the training programme targets 250 Togolese professionals. So far, 224 individuals have participated in the capacity-building initiative, with 60 already obtaining certification through training delivered by Cyber Defense Africa.
