The National Communication
Authority (NCA) has welcomed a delegation from the International
Telecommunication Union (ITU) to its headquarters as part of Phase 3 of the
Digital Financial Services (DFS) Knowledge Transfer Programme. The initiative
is a key step toward establishing a specialized DFS Security Lab at the
Authority.

Eng. Papiti Okwaci, Director
of Technical Services at the NCA, highlighted the importance of building local
technical capacity to secure digital financial infrastructure and align South
Sudan’s regulatory framework with ITU standards on DFS security. The programme
aims to equip the NCA team with hands-on skills to conduct rigorous security
testing of mobile payment applications, ensuring that the country’s digital
economy operates on a foundation of transparency and institutional control.
Over the nine-day training,
participants will receive practical guidance to strengthen cybersecurity
practices in the financial sector, promote global best practices, and safeguard
the integrity of digital transactions.

This collaboration with the
Bank of South Sudan marks a significant milestone in advancing trust,
resilience, and security in the nation’s digital financial systems, supporting
long-term economic growth and digital transformation.
