Kenya
has strengthened its digital cooperation with India following high-level
discussions between Principal Secretary for ICT and Digital Economy, John
Kipchumba Tanui, and India’s Ambassador to Kenya, Adarsh Swaika, in Nairobi.
The
meeting focused on advancing collaboration in key areas including e-governance,
digital public infrastructure and capacity building. Both sides reviewed
progress on the DigiLocker pilot programme being implemented under a bilateral
digital cooperation memorandum of understanding, aimed at enhancing secure
digital document management and verification systems.

Officials
also discussed expanding access to open digital learning resources and
strengthening institutional capacity through specialised training for Kenyan
technical teams at India’s centres of excellence.
The
engagement forms part of Kenya’s broader strategy to accelerate digital
transformation through platforms such as eCitizen and other Digital Public
Infrastructure initiatives designed to improve service delivery, reduce
paperwork and enhance efficiency in public services.

In
addition, the two parties explored investment opportunities in ICT
infrastructure, digital platforms and emerging technologies to support economic
growth and innovation.
The
discussions underscore growing collaboration between Kenya and India in
leveraging technology to drive inclusive development and modernise public
service systems.
