Secretary-General of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), Doreen
Bogdan-Martin emphasized the need for inclusion, innovation, and connectivity
at the Digital Americas 2030 Forum in San José, Costa Rica, held ahead of the
IX CITEL Assembly.

Speaking
to participants, she highlighted the importance of a shared digital future
“from the seabed to outer space” and stressed that achieving this vision
requires collaboration across governments, industry, and communities. She
cautioned that rapid technological acceleration carries the risk of widening
the digital divide, making inclusive access and equitable participation
essential priorities.

Bogdan-Martin
described connectivity for the common good as a tool to bridge gaps and deliver
tangible benefits to people, while underscoring the Americas’ capacity to lead
the region toward an ambitious digital agenda through 2030. She affirmed her
commitment to continuing collaborative efforts to ensure technology serves
society effectively.
