Safaricom PLC has announced
new data minimization measures for its M-PESA platform, aimed at strengthening
customer privacy and reducing exposure to fraud.

The update was unveiled
during a Data Minimization Media Briefing, where the company outlined how
M-PESA transactions will now display only essential information, giving users
greater control over their personal data while maintaining a seamless payment experience.
Safaricom said the
initiative is designed to limit the risk of fraud and unwanted contact,
particularly as millions of Kenyans rely on M-PESA for daily financial
transactions.

The move reflects the
company’s broader commitment to enhancing security and reinforcing trust within
its mobile money ecosystem by prioritizing customer data protection.
