The Zambia Travel Expo (ZATEX) 2026 has officially opened in Lusaka, bringing together tourism stakeholders under the theme “Building Authentic and Sustainable Tourism Through Partnerships.”

The opening ceremony was presided over by the Vice President of the Republic of Zambia, Her Honour Mutale Nalumango, who served as Guest of Honour.

The annual expo convenes industry players, policymakers, and development partners to explore strategies for strengthening Zambia’s tourism sector, with a focus on sustainability, collaboration, and innovation in service delivery.

Zamtel is among the key sponsors of this year’s event, providing high-speed internet connectivity to ensure seamless communication for delegates and organizers throughout the expo.

According to the company, its support for ZATEX 2026 reflects a broader commitment to leveraging digital infrastructure to enhance tourism development, empower communities, and improve service delivery across sectors.

The sponsorship aligns with ongoing efforts to position Zambia as a competitive tourism destination by integrating reliable telecommunications services into the visitor experience and industry operations.

Organizers say this year’s edition of ZATEX is expected to facilitate stronger partnerships between local and international tourism stakeholders, while showcasing Zambia’s cultural heritage, natural attractions, and investment opportunities in the sector.

Zamtel reiterated its commitment to supporting national development priorities through technology-driven solutions that contribute to economic growth and improved connectivity.
