Nigeria’s
timbuktoo UniPods ecosystem has expanded with the launch of the ManuTech UniPod
at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, in Abia State, marking
the country’s third UniPod facility aimed at strengthening innovation, research
and technology-driven entrepreneurship.
The
newly launched ManuTech UniPod is designed to support students, researchers and
entrepreneurs in developing manufacturing-focused solutions, advancing local
industries and creating pathways for Nigerian-made products to compete in
continental and global markets.
The
facility joins Nigeria’s growing network of UniPods, following the
establishment of the AI UniPod in Lagos and the Mine-Tech UniPod in Nasarawa,
as part of efforts to build innovation ecosystems that connect ideas, talent
and technology to enterprise development.
Through
access to advanced tools, skills development opportunities and collaborative
platforms, the ManuTech UniPod will provide innovators with resources to
transform concepts into practical solutions that address industrial and
economic challenges.
The
initiative forms part of the broader timbuktoo Africa innovation ecosystem,
supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), which seeks to
accelerate the growth of technology-driven ventures across the continent by
strengthening links between universities, industry and entrepreneurs.
