Kenya has showcased its
digital transformation journey at the World Summit on the Information Society
(WSIS) Forum 2026 in Geneva, highlighting the country’s progress in expanding
connectivity, strengthening digital trust and promoting inclusive digital development.
The Kenyan delegation, led
by Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy
Hon. William Kabogo Gitau, engaged with governments, regulators, private sector
leaders, academia and the technical community during discussions focused on the
future of global digital cooperation.
As the world marks two
decades of the WSIS process, Kenya reaffirmed its commitment to advancing a
digital future driven by shared responsibility, inclusive governance and
people-centred innovation.
The Communications Authority
of Kenya (CA) said the country’s participation in the forum provided an
opportunity to share experiences and lessons from its digital transformation
journey while learning from global partners on emerging challenges and opportunities.
Discussions at WSIS 2026
focused on key areas shaping the global digital agenda, including connectivity,
artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital inclusion and meaningful access
to technology.
Kenya emphasised that
digital transformation extends beyond technology infrastructure, requiring
strong partnerships, effective policies and solutions that address the needs of
citizens.
The country highlighted
ongoing efforts to create a secure and innovative digital ecosystem that
supports economic growth, expands opportunities and ensures that more people
benefit from digital services.
The participation comes as
the Communications Authority of Kenya marks its 25th anniversary, with the
regulator reaffirming its role in supporting Kenya’s vision of a connected,
inclusive and trusted digital society.
Through its engagement at
WSIS 2026, Kenya reiterated its commitment to contributing to global
