Nigerian
Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT) has reaffirmed its strategic
partnership with the Nigerian Navy as both institutions seek to strengthen
secure communications and enhance the country's national security capabilities
through satellite technology.
The
renewed commitment followed a series of high-level engagements between
NIGCOMSAT officials and senior leadership of the Nigerian Navy aimed at
expanding collaboration in communications, digital infrastructure and
mission-critical operations.
The
NIGCOMSAT delegation held its first formal meeting with the Chief of
Communications and Information Technology (CCIT) of the Nigerian Navy, Rear
Admiral Adepegba, since his appointment in April 2026.
The
discussions focused on reviewing ongoing collaborative initiatives, assessing
progress made under existing programmes and identifying new opportunities to
deploy satellite technologies in support of Nigeria's strategic communications
infrastructure, technological innovation and capacity development.
Both
institutions also explored future solutions designed to enhance secure,
resilient and reliable communications systems for naval operations, reinforcing
the role of satellite technology in supporting national defence capabilities.
The
engagement continued with a strategic meeting involving the immediate past
Chief of Communications and Information Technology and current Chief of
Operations of the Nigerian Navy, Rear Admiral Effah.
During
the meeting, both parties examined ways to expand the application of
NIGCOMSAT's satellite-enabled services to improve operational efficiency,
strengthen situational awareness and support the Navy's evolving operational
requirements.
NIGCOMSAT
said the engagements reflect a shared commitment to leveraging indigenous
satellite capabilities to improve the resilience of Nigeria's digital
infrastructure while enhancing operational readiness across the country's
security institutions.
The
company emphasized that strategic partnerships remain essential to building
sustainable national communications infrastructure capable of supporting
defence, emergency response and other critical government services.
