Kenya’s communications regulator has highlighted the importance of partnerships and knowledge exchange in strengthening the country’s digital ecosystem and building a secure, resilient and sustainable communications sector.

The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) said collaboration with public institutions, industry stakeholders and other partners plays an important role in sharing technical expertise, strengthening institutional capacity and developing a common understanding of emerging opportunities and risks in the digital environment.

The Authority this week hosted a benchmark visit by students from the Kenya Naval Training School as part of its stakeholder engagement and knowledge-sharing activities.

The engagement exposed the trainees to key areas of communications regulation and technology, including cybersecurity, technical standards and spectrum management.

During the visit, the trainees received practical insights into cyber threat management and secure digital operations, with discussions focusing on measures for safeguarding communications networks and services against emerging threats.

The programme also covered spectrum monitoring, interference detection and resolution. The sessions highlighted the importance of effective spectrum management in maintaining reliable connectivity and protecting critical communications services.

The Authority said such engagements extend the reach of its regulatory expertise while contributing to broader institutional and national development.

It noted that as digital technologies become increasingly integrated into public services, economic activities and national security, stronger institutional capacity and closer cooperation among stakeholders are necessary to manage emerging risks and maintain confidence in the digital environment.

The Authority said stakeholder engagement remains a key component of effective regulation, providing opportunities to share technical and regulatory knowledge, learn from partners and build collective capacity to respond to the rapidly changing communications landscape.
