UPU reaffirms support for Ethiopost’s digital transformation and regional expansion

The Universal Postal Union (UPU) has reaffirmed its readiness to support Ethiopost’s digital transformation, institutional modernisation and efforts to leverage opportunities created by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The commitment was made during a meeting between Ethiopost CEO H.E. Dagmawi Hailiye and UPU Director of Development and Cooperation Mutua Mutusi, alongside Amadou Amadou, Coordinator for Africa, Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States.

During the meeting, held at the Ethiopost CEO’s office, the UPU representatives commended the postal operator’s progress in transforming its operations, modernising services and strengthening its regional competitiveness.

The UPU leaders also reaffirmed their readiness to provide technical assistance and capacity building to support Ethiopost’s digital transformation journey and help the organisation maximise emerging opportunities under the AfCFTA.

H.E. Dagmawi Hailiye highlighted Ethiopost’s ongoing institutional transformation, expansion of digital services and efforts to improve service quality. He outlined key initiatives aimed at modernising postal finance, e-commerce and logistics infrastructure.

He also stressed the importance of strengthening and sustaining the strategic partnership between Ethiopost and the UPU to advance the organisation’s transformation initiatives and take them to the next level.
