The Technology Innovation
Agency (TIA) and the National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa have
held a high-level executive meeting to strengthen strategic alignment between
the mandates of the two institutions and identify opportunities for greater
collaboration in science, technology and innovation.
The engagement was led by
TIA CEO, Dr. Zwanani Titus Mathe and NRF CEO, Dr Angus Paterson, with
discussions focused on opportunities for the two institutions to collaborate,
co-create and partner in developing solutions that respond to societal needs.
As entities of the
Department of Science, Technology and Innovation, TIA and NRF explored ways to
leverage their existing resources, expertise and networks while identifying new
sources of support and innovation capable of generating greater impact.
The discussions underscored
the importance of a partnership-driven approach to strengthening South Africa’s
innovation ecosystem and translating scientific and technological capabilities
into practical solutions.
Through the engagement, TIA
and NRF reaffirmed their commitment to advancing science, technology and
innovation as key drivers of inclusive socio-economic development in South
Africa.
