Uganda is reviewing its
digital entrepreneurship and innovation policy framework as stakeholders work
to tighten the country’s startup ecosystem and advance its digital
transformation agenda.
The Personal Data Protection
Office, Uganda (PDPO), participated in a Stakeholder Validation Workshop on
Uganda’s Digital Entrepreneurship and Innovation Policies convened by the
Ministry of ICT and National Guidance in partnership with Smart Africa and Enabel.
The workshop focused on the
Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Policy framework and the Startup
Policy, providing stakeholders with an opportunity to review key findings and
identify priority areas for policy and regulatory reform.
Participants also discussed
practical actions that could strengthen Uganda’s startup and innovation
ecosystem, with emphasis on creating an enabling environment for
entrepreneurship and technology-driven businesses.
The engagement is intended
to support consensus-building among stakeholders and inform policy
interventions that promote innovation and entrepreneurship while responding to
the evolving needs of Uganda’s digital economy.
PDPO said its participation
reflects its commitment to contributing to policy development that supports
innovation while ensuring appropriate regulatory considerations are taken into
account.
