The African Regional
Transport Workshop, organised by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and
Ethiopost, has concluded with a renewed focus on positioning Ethiopia as a
primary logistics hub for postal parcels and e-commerce goods across Africa.
The three-day workshop was
aimed at strengthening Africa’s postal transport and logistics network and
accelerating cross-border postal exchanges among countries.
The programme also provided
a platform for participants to explore stronger cooperation between postal
operators, airlines and international postal institutions in support of more
efficient regional logistics and e-commerce trade.
At the close of the
workshop, senior executives from the Universal Postal Union and representatives
of African postal operators visited Ethiopian Airlines and the Ethiopost
headquarters.
At Ethiopost, the delegation
was received by the organisation’s executive leadership and was briefed on its
ongoing digital transformation and modernisation initiatives.
Members of the delegation
expressed appreciation for Ethiopost’s progress, noting that the visit provided
valuable insights and best practices that could inform efforts to modernise
postal operations across the continent.
