Côte d’Ivoire is promoting
the use of national languages in artificial intelligence development through
the launch of the YIRI digital community, an initiative aimed at developing a
voice and text language model dedicated to local languages.
Minister of Digital
Transition and Technological Innovation Djibril Ouattara stressed the
importance of promoting national languages in AI development during the
initiative’s official launch.
Led by FuturAfric Artificial
Intelligence, YIRI aims to facilitate digital exchanges and preserve Ivorian
cultural heritage through technology.
The initiative seeks to
promote more inclusive artificial intelligence adapted to local realities and
serving the needs of the population.
The approach places national
languages at the heart of AI development, with a focus on making digital
technologies more accessible and relevant to communities across Côte d’Ivoire.
