Kenya has taken a step
towards advancing the Konza Cloud Expansion and Smart City Facilities Project
after the Technopolis Development Authority signed a Project Preparation
Funding Agreement with the Public-Private Partnerships Project Facilitation
Fund under the National Treasury.
The agreement was signed by
Technopolis Development Authority Chief Executive Officer John Paul Okwiri,
OGW, to support preparations for the project under the Public-Private
Partnership (PPP) framework.
The agreement will
facilitate transaction advisory services, feasibility assessments and the
development of a structured investment and implementation framework for the
project.
According to the authority,
the collaboration is expected to strengthen Konza Technopolis’ digital
infrastructure, enhance its smart city capabilities and unlock opportunities
for private-sector investment in Kenya’s growing digital economy.
The authority said the
initiative forms part of efforts to position Konza Technopolis as a leading
destination for technology-driven investment and sustainable economic growth.
“Through partnerships such
as these, we continue to lay the foundation for a more connected, innovative
and investment-ready Silicon Savannah,” the authority said.
