The South African National
Space Agency (SANSA) is strengthening collaboration with King Hintsa TVET
College to support the implementation of the National Resources Management
Programme (NRMP), expand training opportunities and extend the programme’s benefits
to local communities.
The partnership follows the
launch of the NRMP at Nqadu Great Place in the Eastern Cape on May 8, 2026, and
forms part of SANSA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships and advance
the programme.
Discussions between SANSA
and King Hintsa TVET College focused on opportunities for joint research
programmes, collaboration in implementing the NRMP and related initiatives, and
training and capacity building.
The engagement also
highlighted the importance of space education initiatives within SANSA’s space
outreach programmes to future-proof education and prepare learners for emerging
opportunities in the space sector.
The collaboration extends
beyond Earth observation to developing pipelines for the artisans and engineers
required for programmes such as space operations and space engineering.
Through the partnership,
SANSA aims to strengthen institutional cooperation, support skills development
and contribute to building the technical capacity needed for South Africa’s
space and resource management initiatives.
