HONOR has partnered with
South African technology company Optimas Robotics to launch a Cyberlab at the
Kimberley Teachers Centre in the Northern Cape, expanding access to robotics,
artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity and digital skills.
The initiative, developed in
partnership with Evans Parson Zwane, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of
Optimas Robotics, aims to support homegrown innovation and emerging South
African technology entrepreneurs.
The Cyberlab will provide
community members, local teachers and students from Sol Plaatje University with
opportunities to complement their academic learning through practical exposure
to emerging technologies, explore new ideas and develop skills relevant to the
digital economy.
The launch also introduces
OptimasGPT, Optimas Robotics’ educational AI platform, which the company says
supports all 11 official South African languages.
The platform is intended to
demonstrate the value of developing accessible and locally relevant technology
solutions while bringing robotics and AI education closer to communities.
HONOR said the partnership
reflects its commitment to supporting local talent and promising ideas, noting
that digital inclusion goes beyond providing devices and infrastructure to
creating partnerships that turn access to technology into meaningful opportunities.
The company said young South
Africans should not only be consumers of tomorrow’s technology but should also
have opportunities to become its developers, researchers and innovators.
HONOR reaffirmed its
commitment to supporting Evans Zwane and Optimas Robotics in efforts to help
shape South Africa’s digital future.
