African Union Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy, H.E. Lerato D. Mataboge, has congratulated Gabon’s Minister of State for Transport, Merchant Marine and Logistics, H.E. Colonel Ulrich Manfoumbi Manfoumbi, on his assumption of the role of Chair of the Bureau of the Specialised Technical Committee (STC) on Transport and Energy.

Mataboge conveyed the congratulations during a bilateral engagement with the Gabonese minister at the Ministry of Transport, Merchant Marine and Logistics, marking their first meeting since he assumed the chairmanship.

During the meeting, the AU Commissioner handed the minister the Handbook for the Chair and the Rules of Procedure of the Committee, which set out the roles and responsibilities of the Bureau.

As Chair, Manfoumbi Manfoumbi leads the Committee’s work across both transport and energy.

Discussions also focused on the African Union Theme of the Year 2027, titled “AU at the Dawn of its 25th Anniversary: Leveraging the Full Potential of SAATM and New Technologies for Continental Integration”, and the implementation roadmap that will guide its execution.

The engagement further highlighted the importance of developing a cohesive plan among ministers responsible for transport and aviation, bringing their priorities into the Committee’s agenda.

The African Union Commission’s Department of Infrastructure and Energy said it looks forward to working closely with the Chair and the Bureau of the Specialised Technical Committee on Transport and Energy in the year ahead as part of efforts to implement the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
