Vodacom
Group CEO Shameel Joosub has made a special appearance at the Vodacom Group
Annual Hack-alympics to encourage
participants.
The
three-day Hackathon drew participants from a diverse array of countries
including South Africa, Kenya, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho,
Mozambique, Tanzania, Ethiopia, and Egypt, showcasing the continent's vibrant
tech talent.
The
Hack-alympics not only provided a platform for intense coding and
problem-solving but also set the stage for an eagerly awaited internal
competition, driving innovation within Vodacom Group.

Winners
from each challenge in every market will progress to the All-Africa
Hack-alympic Games in April, where they'll vie for prestigious rewards.
Subsequently, in June, the top performers per challenge from Africa will
compete against winners from Vodafone Europe, as
part of Vodacom’s commitment to building an inclusive digital society, and
investing in innovation initiatives across all its markets.

“Our vision for this year’s Hackathon was to push the
boundaries of innovation with our internal teams in resolving challenges
related to our strategic pillars namely, Customer, Simplicity and Growth.
Through the Hackathon, we are striving to enable, support and accelerate sustainable
innovation across our markets so that we ultimately enhance customer
experience,” said Vodacom Group CEO, Shameel Joosub.
“Our
Hackathon taps into the collective talent across our markets, through cross
functional teams so that we continue to drive innovation and our legacy of
producing industry firsts,” he added.

As
technology continues to shape the future of Africa, initiatives like the
Hack-alympics play a crucial role in nurturing the next generation of
innovators and problem solvers. By fostering a culture of innovation and
collaboration, Vodacom is not only strengthening its position as a leader in
the telecommunications industry but also contributing to the broader
socio-economic development of the continent,
