Rwanda President Paul Kagame
has held separate meetings with Ghana’s Vice President Professor Naana Jane
Opoku-Agyemang and African Development Bank Group President Dr Sidi Ould Tah on
the sidelines of the inaugural Africa Mindset Reset Forum in Kigali.
The discussions with Vice
President Opoku-Agyemang focused on the strong relations between Rwanda and
Ghana and shared priorities for advancing Africa’s economic transformation.
The meeting formed part of
engagements around the forum, which brought together African leaders and
policymakers to discuss how the continent can strengthen cooperation and
rethink approaches to leadership, development and economic progress.
Addressing young people
aspiring to become leaders at the Africa Mindset Reset Forum, President Kagame
urged them to pursue purpose-driven leadership and remain committed to their
goals despite setbacks.
He stressed the importance
of continental cooperation, questioning the benefits of an Africa that does not
work together, while encouraging young people to take risks, learn from
failures and remain persistent.
“Give it a try, you fail,
you make a loss here, you make a gain here, but you stay the course. Keep
going,” Kagame told participants.
The Rwandan President also
met separately with Dr Sidi Ould Tah, President of the African Development Bank
Group, with discussions focusing on Rwanda’s partnership with the Bank and
priorities for accelerating investment, economic growth and development across
Africa.
The engagements underscore
the importance of stronger partnerships, continental cooperation and investment
in Africa’s economic transformation agenda.
The inaugural Africa Mindset
Reset Forum provided a platform for African leaders and stakeholders to examine
the continent’s next phase of development and explore ways to strengthen
collaboration in pursuit of shared prosperity.
