CS Owalo receives Safaricom sponsorship for Connect Africa Summit in Kenya

The Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Information, Communication and Digital Economy, Eliud Owalo, has received a sponsorship cheque of Ksh 20,000,000 from Safaricom PLC.

The cheque was presented by Cynthia Karuri-Kropac, Chief Enterprise Business, Safaricom PLC, and Peris Nduta Muhoro, Sponsorship and MJC Manager, Safaricom PLC.

The sponsorship is for the Connected Africa Summit 2024, which will be held at Uhuru Gardens from April 21 to April 25 next week.

Ms Karuri-Kropac stated that Safaricom is excited to sponsor the Connected Africa Summit 2024, which is a platform for African leaders, investors, and businesses to come together and harness the vast opportunities presented by the digital economy while addressing barriers and pressing issues affecting our economies.

The leading network operator is committed to powering the summit with a Kes. 20 million sponsorship and being the technology partner. The conference, which will take place from Sunday, April 21st to Thursday, April 25th, 2024, will be marked under the theme “Shaping the Future of a Connected Africa: Unlocking Growth Beyond Connectivity."

The Cabinet Secretary was accompanied by the Principal Secretary for ICT and the Digital Economy, John Kipchumba Tanui, and CEO ICTA, Stanley Kamanguya, among other ministry officials at the presentation meeting.
