The Principal Secretary at the State
Department of ICT and Digital Economy, John Kipchumba Tanui has joined the Executive
Vice President of Cisco, Francine Katsoudas and University of Nairobi
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama to unveil the new Cisco Cybersecurity
Technology Experience Centre at the University of Nairobi's Chiromo Campus.
This cutting-edge facility is geared towards
enhancing Kenya's digital education landscape, offering comprehensive
cybersecurity training and showcasing the latest technological solutions.
Beyond its educational role, the centre is poised to become a catalyst for
national talent development in entrepreneurship, cybersecurity, and digital
technology.
At the heart of the initiative is Cisco's
commitment to fostering innovation and empowering communities through
technology. Through its Edge Innovate program, Cisco aims to drive economic
growth by creating job opportunities and fueling entrepreneurship.
Additionally, the Edge Educate program seeks to empower individuals and
communities through technology and education, equipping them with the skills
needed to thrive in the digital age.
The launch event was attended by key
stakeholders, including ICT Authority CEO Kamanguya Stanley and Shain Rahim,
Cisco Country Manager, indicating the collaborative effort behind this
transformative initiative.
The establishment of the Cisco Cybersecurity
Technology Experience Centre at the University of Nairobi represents a paradigm
shift in how cybersecurity education is delivered. By providing hands-on
training and access to state-of-the-art technology, the centre will empower
students and professionals to tackle the evolving cybersecurity threats facing
organizations today.
