Next-Gen Infrastructure
Company (NGIC), the first 5G Mobile Broadband Shared Infrastructure Entity is
poised to launch a wholesale 4G/5G network-as-a-service platform within the
next six months, with plans to expand to other parts of Africa in the near
future. This innovative platform will be made available to Mobile Network
Operators (MNOs), marking a significant milestone in the country's
telecommunications sector.
According to Harkirit
Singh, CEO of Ascend Digital and Executive Director at NGIC, the company
intends to tap into capital markets and bring in strategic investors as needed
to fuel its ambitious growth plans. NGIC is committed to investing $145 billion
in capital expenditure over the next three years, solidifying its position as a
leader in the industry.
As the first 5G Mobile
Broadband Shared Infrastructure Entity, NGIC will build a nationwide 4G/5G
network, working closely with MNO partners to launch affordable 4G/5G-enabled
Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) Customer Premises Equipment (CPEs) and smartphones
in Ghana within this calendar year.
With an exclusive license
to offer 5G services in Ghana for the next decade, NGIC is targeting a service
launch within the next six months, with a stated goal of making 5G mobile
broadband services affordable for all.
The company's ownership
structure includes 55% ownership by Ascent Digital Solutions and K-NET, 10% by
the Government of Ghana, and participation from Reliance's Radisys unit, Tech
Mahindra, AT Ghana, and Telecel Ghana.
