Stephen
Blewett, the newly appointed CEO of MTN Ghana, led a delegation to pay a
courtesy call on two prominent media organizations in Accra. This engagement
marked an important step in introducing Stephen to the media and strengthening
partnerships with the media sector.
The
first stop was the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), where the delegation
was warmly received by the leadership. During his remarks, Stephen reiterated
MTN's unwavering commitment to collaborating with the media to advance its
digital agenda. He emphasized the critical role the media plays in achieving
MTN's vision for a digital future in Ghana. In response, the President of GJA
extended his congratulations to Stephen on his new role and assured him of the
media's continued support for MTN's initiatives.
The
second engagement took place at Graphic Communications Group, where Stephen and
his team met with the Managing Director, Mr. Ato Afful, and the Editor of the
Daily Graphic, Mr. Theophilus Yartey. The discussions were centered on
exploring avenues for collaboration to mutually enhance their respective
businesses. One key focus was the support requested by the Daily Graphic from
MTN to implement its ambitious digital agenda, particularly in digitizing its
newspaper archives dating back to its inception.
During
the meeting, Mr. Ato Afful extended a special invitation to Stephen Blewett,
making him the first MTN CEO to be featured on the 'Graphic's MD's Series,' an
esteemed online media program. This opportunity underscores the significance of
the partnership between MTN and Graphic Communications Group and sets the stage
for future collaborations that will drive digital innovation and growth.
