Microsoft Africa
Development Center (ADC) and Serianu Limited have signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) to boost cybersecurity skilling in Kenya. This strategic
partnership aims to equip cybersecurity professionals with the skills necessary
to protect digital infrastructure.
United States
International University-Africa is the university partner, and the Kenya
Bankers Association will provide placement opportunities for students upon
completion of the program. This initiative targets 100 students from 10 public
and private universities, focusing on critical areas like Network Security,
Cloud Security, Incident Response, and Microsoft Defender Threat Intelligence.
According to Catherine
Muraga, Managing Director of Microsoft ADC and Engineering Director, the
partnership comes at a critical time when cyber threats are becoming
increasingly sophisticated and frequent, posing significant risks to personal
and national security. Recent cyber-attacks on local supermarkets, financial
services, and government platforms have highlighted these vulnerabilities.
This comprehensive
program will enhance cybersecurity skills in the Kenya banking sector, ensuring
the safety and security of digital infrastructure. The partnership demonstrates
Microsoft's commitment to empowering Kenya's cybersecurity talent and promoting
a safer digital landscape.
