The Regional African Satellite
Communication Organization (RASCOM) has announced a new strategic plan aimed at
enhancing its market penetration across Africa. The plan, approved by the Board
of Directors, prioritizes a people-centric approach and partnerships with local
satellite service providers.
According to RASCOM
Director General Timothy Ashong, this approach will significantly contribute to
achieving the organization's objectives and cement its commitment to serving
Africa's needs. By partnering with local satellite service providers, RASCOM
aims to better cater to the continent's growing demands and empower Africa
through digital transformation.
Formed in 1992 by African
member states, RASCOM has been championing satellite connectivity in Africa.
Despite launching only two satellites out of the planned 14, the organization
remains committed to providing large-scale telecommunication infrastructure to
hard-to-reach regions of Africa at low cost.
The new strategic plan is
expected to have meaningful impact not only on Africa's digital landscape, but
also focus on people and local partnerships.
