The Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT) has entered into a strategic partnership with Infratel Africa, a leading telecom. The agreement aims to advance rural telephony projects across Nigeria, providing robust internet connectivity to underserved areas.

Under the partnership, 100 sites will be migrated to the NigComSat-1R Ka-band hub platform, ensuring seamless and reliable communication in rural areas. This collaboration aligns with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy's efforts to improve rural connectivity.

NIGCOMSAT's CEO, Jane Egerton-Idehen, hailed the partnership as a welcome development, stating that it reinforces NIGCOMSAT's position in the industry. She emphasized that the NigComSat-1R satellite capacity will continue to support businesses in expanding telecoms networks and improving connectivity.

"This partnership is a significant step towards bridging the digital divide and empowering communities with enhanced connectivity," Egerton-Idehen said.

The partnership is expected to have a positive impact on rural communities, enabling them to access better communication services and participate in the digital economy.
