The Nigerian
Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT) has entered into a strategic
partnership with Infratel Africa, a leading telecom. The agreement aims to
advance rural telephony projects across Nigeria, providing robust internet
connectivity to underserved areas.
Under the partnership,
100 sites will be migrated to the NigComSat-1R Ka-band hub platform, ensuring
seamless and reliable communication in rural areas. This collaboration aligns
with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy's
efforts to improve rural connectivity.
NIGCOMSAT's CEO, Jane
Egerton-Idehen, hailed the partnership as a welcome development, stating that
it reinforces NIGCOMSAT's position in the industry. She emphasized that the
NigComSat-1R satellite capacity will continue to support businesses in
expanding telecoms networks and improving connectivity.
"This
partnership is a significant step towards bridging the digital divide and
empowering communities with enhanced connectivity,"
Egerton-Idehen said.
The partnership is
expected to have a positive impact on rural communities, enabling them to
access better communication services and participate in the digital economy.
