Director General of the
Regional African Satellite Communication Organisation (RASCOM), Timothy Ashong
has paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Digital Transition and
Digitalization for Ivory Coast, Ibrahim Kalil Konate to present RASCOM's new
strategic plan. The plan aims to leverage satellite technology to improve lives
and communities across Africa.
Ashong during discussions
highlighted key aspects of the people-centered plan, indicating its potential
to bridge the digital divide and create prosperity on the continent. He
stressed the importance of collaboration between governments and private sector
partners to achieve this goal.
Minister Konate also acknowledged
the significance of RASCOM's role in satellite connectivity, particularly as a
backup solution during disruptions to undersea cables, such as the recent
outage.
He expressed his support
for the strategic plan and commended RASCOM's efforts to harness satellite
technology for Africa's digital transformation.
