The Ministry
of Communications and Digitalization of Ghana, in collaboration with Smart
Africa, the Data Protection Commission - Ghana, the European Commission, and
several other international partners, is organizing the Ghana National Data
Strategy Validation Workshop in Accra. This significant event is poised to play
a crucial role in shaping the future of Ghana's digital transformation.
Scheduled to
be held at the Alisa North Ridge Hotel, the workshop will also be accessible
online, providing an opportunity for wider participation. This hybrid approach
ensures that stakeholders from various sectors can contribute to refining and
enhancing the National Data Strategy, a key framework that aims to leverage
data for sustainable development, improved governance, and job growth across
Ghana.
Data has
become the new oxygen of development, fueling innovations and enabling a more
effective and inclusive delivery of public services. The Ghana National Data
Strategy is designed to harness the power of data, driving the country's
digital transformation and ensuring that public services reach local
communities efficiently and inclusively.
The workshop
brings together a diverse group of stakeholders, including representatives from
government, the private sector, civil society, and academia. By validating the
National Data Strategy, participants will ensure that Ghana is well-positioned
to leverage data for sustainable growth and enhanced public services.
The event is
also part of the Data Governance in Africa Team Europe Action, an initiative
supported by the European Union and five EU Member States (Belgium, Estonia,
Finland, France, and Germany) under the EU Global Gateway Strategy. The
initiative aims to promote sustainable development through enhanced data
governance and is implemented by organizations such as Digital Africa, Enabel,
the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV), HAUS Finnish
Institute of Public Management Ltd, Expertise France, and the Deutsche
Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
