The Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation (MoCD), in collaboration with
the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (GI-KACE) and the Ghana
Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), has successfully
concluded the first batch of the Girls-In-ICT programme in the Greater Accra
Region. The training, which ran from June 24 to June 28, 2024, aimed to train
500 girls from upper primary and junior high schools in Information

The programme, designed to encourage young girls to pursue careers in ICT and
develop an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
(STEM), covered modules such as Introduction to Computer Programming, Cyber
Security, Animation Development, Game Development, Coding, Scratch, and Website
Design. After the one-week training, participants were assessed through an
inter-district competition to identify outstanding performers for further
opportunities.

skills and knowledge the participants had acquired, urging them to apply their
training both at work and at home. Dr. Arthur expressed gratitude to the
Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, and

valuable initiative to the district.
This initiative aims to equip young girls with essential digital skills,
fostering their growth and preparing them for future opportunities in the
evolving digital landscape.
