Patrick Johansson as its new Head of Market Area Middle East & Africa
(MMEA) and Senior Vice President. Johansson, who currently serves as Head of
Business Control & Operations at Ericsson's Business Area Cloud Software
& Services, will assume his new role on August 1, 2024, and be based in
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Johansson brings a wealth of experience to his new position, having
worked at Ericsson since 1997 and held various roles across multiple Business
Areas and Market Areas. His background includes stints as Global Head of Sales
& Commercial Management for Business Area Networks, Head of Customer Unit
Korea, and several executive Finance and Business roles.
Börje Ekholm, President and CEO of Ericsson, praised Johansson's
appointment, stating, "Patrick has an extensive understanding of our
technology and business strategy, which are crucial factors in maintaining our
leading industry position. I'm pleased he has accepted this role and look
forward to having him on the Executive Team."
Johansson expressed his excitement about the opportunity, saying, "I
am honored and thrilled to be offered this role. Ericsson is at the epicenter
of the latest technology trends, and I look forward to working with customers
and partners in the Middle East and Africa to create outstanding value."
Johansson will replace Fadi Pharaon, whose decision to leave Ericsson
was announced in May 2024. As Head of Market Area Middle East & Africa,
Johansson will be responsible for driving Ericsson's business growth and
strategy in the region.
With his extensive experience and knowledge of Ericsson's technology and
business strategy, Johansson is well-positioned to lead the company's efforts
in the Middle East and Africa. His appointment is a testament to Ericsson's
commitment to innovation and customer value in the region.
