The Principal
Secretary of the State Department of ICT and Digital Economy, Eng. John
Kipchumba Tanui, has held a productive meeting with representatives from the
Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV) and GIZ Kenya (German
International Cooperation). The meeting aimed to discuss progress on their
collaboration areas, focusing on digital transformation, smart governance, and
capacity building for civil servants.
The
meeting brought together delegates, including Alena Kern, Deputy Head at the
Federal Foreign Office, German Embassy in Kenya; Bernd Lakemeier, Country
Programs Director at GIZ; Triin Kangur, Manager of International IT Projects at
ESTDEV (virtual); and Victoria Nkatha, Country Project Manager.
The
discussion centered around key initiatives, such as the establishment of a
Digital Transformation Centre and Smart Governance programs. The parties
emphasized the importance of synergy between partners in program
implementation, ensuring a cohesive approach to driving digital transformation
in Kenya.
This
collaboration leverages Estonia's expertise in digital transformation and GIZ's
experience in international cooperation to support Kenya's digital journey. The
partnership aims to enhance government efficiency, transparency, and citizen
engagement through technology.

John Kipchumba Tanui reiterated the government's dedication to harnessing
technology for sustainable development and appreciates the support from Estonia
and Germany in achieving this vision.
