Expert calls for infrastructure development and consumer-centric approach to achieve interoperability in Africa

Technology expert, Foster Awintiti Akugri, has reiterated the need for Africa to address its infrastructural and access gaps to achieve full interoperability. Speaking at the Africa Prosperity Network summit, Mr. Akugri stressed that policy should follow innovation, not precede it, to ensure success.


He advocated for a consumer-centered approach to unlock value and accelerate interoperability, suggesting an enabling solutions first, then creating an innovation-policy-fit environment to govern effectiveness.

The panel discussion featured representatives from the financial services industry across Africa, including Ehi Binitie, Hicham El Achgar, Yoofi Grant, and Olasupo Shasore. The event aimed to address interoperability in Africa, with attendees including the Vice President of Ghana, the Minister for Communication & Digitilization, and the Governor of the Bank of Ghana.


The Africa Prosperity Network convened stakeholders to dialogue on unlocking the value of interoperability for efficient trade in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).


The summit highlighted the need for collaboration to overcome the challenges hindering interoperability in Africa.
