The
Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has officially launched the Centre for
Excellence in Abuja to provide Nigerians with technical and vocational skills
to support the growing digital economy.
The
Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani,
commended the NCC for the initiative, stating that connectivity is crucial for
any society to prosper. He encouraged the NCC to collaborate with more
stakeholders to make the centre a true hub for excellence in Africa.
The
Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, expressed his excitement
about the centre, noting that it provides a unique opportunity for radio
engineers to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology. He
emphasized that the centre will enable engineers and other Nigerians to acquire
skills that will drive innovation in the 5G era.
The
centre is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and will offer training
programs in various areas of telecommunications, including radio engineering,
network management, and cybersecurity. The NCC's initiative is expected to
contribute significantly to the development of a skilled workforce in Nigeria's
digital economy.
