MTN Group has welcomed Nigeria's Acting High Commissioner to South Africa, H.E
Alexander T. Ajayi, and his delegation at their headquarters. The meeting was
marked by fruitful discussions on areas of mutual interest, including economic
and cultural diplomatic initiatives aimed at strengthening the already robust
relationships between Nigeria and South Africa.
This
visit points out MTN's ongoing commitment to the developmental agenda of both
countries, aligning with the company's strategic intent of "Leading
digital solutions for Africa's progress." As MTN celebrates its 30th
anniversary in South Africa this year, the company also marks over two decades
of operations in Nigeria, where it has established itself as the largest
subsidiary in terms of subscriber numbers, serving approximately 78 million
customers as of Q1 2024.
The
meeting was reminiscent of Prof. Adekeye Adebajo's words, "The Nigerian
eagle must soar and the South African springbok gallop in sync, if Africa is to
be reborn." MTN's commitment to fostering strong bilateral relations
between Nigeria and South Africa is a testament to the company's dedication to
driving progress across the continent.
As a
leading digital solutions provider, MTN is poised to continue playing a pivotal
role in shaping the future of Africa, leveraging its expertise and resources to
drive economic growth, cultural exchange, and social development in both
Nigeria and South Africa.
