The Minister of State for Trade & Industry, Culture, Community & Youth, Alvin Tan has met with AfCFTA Secretary General, Wamkele Mene to discuss strategic partnerships between Singapore and the African Continental Free Trade Area. The meeting highlighted the importance of capacity building, digital trade, and sustainable economic growth.

Singapore has been actively supporting African officials through its cooperation programme, providing training on trade negotiations and other essential skills. The discussions explored opportunities for further collaboration, including expanding capacity building initiatives and joint efforts in digital trade and the green economy.

The AfCFTA's Digital Trade Protocol and Singapore's Digital Economy Agreements aim to create a seamless and inclusive digital economy landscape. By working together, both parties can leverage each other's strengths to drive economic growth, foster innovation, and promote sustainable development.

As the world's largest free trade area, the AfCFTA is poised to unlock new opportunities, and Singapore's expertise in digital trade and sustainable economic growth will be invaluable in achieving this goal.
