MTN
Group has announced two significant leadership changes, effective September 1
and August 19, 2024, respectively. Mohammed Rufai has been appointed as the new
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTN Congo-Brazzaville, while Ayham Moussa will
take on the role of Chief Operations Officer (COO) at MTN Nigeria.
Mohammed
Rufai brings over 24 years of experience in the ICT industry, with a proven
track record in the telecoms sector. He has held various senior roles across
the MTN Group, including Regional CTIO for Southeast Africa and Ghana.
Ayham
Moussa, who previously served as CEO of MTN Congo-Brazzaville, will replace
Hassan Jabber as COO of MTN Nigeria.
Ayham has extensive experience in the
industry, having served in various markets, including Syria and Guinea-Conakry.
The
appointments follow the voluntary early retirement of Djibril Ouattara, CEO of
MTN Côte d'Ivoire, and the departure of Hassan Jabber, COO of MTN Nigeria. MTN
Group President and CEO Ralph Mupita expressed his gratitude to both Djibril
and Hassan for their contributions to the company's success.
“On behalf of the MTN Group Board and Group
Exco, I wish both Djibril and Hassan well in their future endeavours. I also
congratulate Ayham and Mohammed on their appointments and wish them success in
their new roles,” he said.
The
appointments of Mohammed Rufai and Ayham Moussa are expected to bring fresh
perspectives and expertise to their respective roles, further strengthening
MTN's position in the telecoms industry.
