The
Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has called on IT Managers and Administrators of
health facilities in Ghana to prioritize the protection of sensitive patient
data by securing their digital infrastructure. This urgent appeal was made at a
recent workshop organized by the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Cape Coast,
Central Region.
Officials
from the CSA noted that the health sector is designated as a Critical
Information Infrastructure (CII), making it imperative for health sector
leaders to comply with the CII Directive. This directive is designed to ensure
the protection of sensitive information and prevent cyber threats that could
compromise patient data.
The
CSA's warning comes at a time when cyber attacks are on the rise, posing a
significant risk to the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of patient
data. Health facilities hold vast amounts of sensitive information, making them
a prime target for cyber criminals.
By
prioritizing the protection of digital infrastructure, health facilities can
ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of patient data. This
includes implementing robust security measures such as firewalls, encryption,
and access controls, as well as conducting regular security audits and training
staff on cyber security best practices.
