President
William Samoei Ruto has sworn in Dr. Margaret Nyambura Ndung'u, a renowned
international digital policy and innovation expert as the new Cabinet Secretary
for Kenya's Ministry of Information, Communications, and Digital Economy at
State House Nairobi on Thursday, 8 August 2024 along with other new Cabinet
Secretaries.
With
over 25 years of experience in digital development, Dr. Ndung'u brings
unparalleled expertise to her new role. Her accomplishments include authoring
Kenya's national digital master plan and serving as a senior regulatory and
governance expert at the Policy and Regulation Initiative for Digital Africa
(PRIDA).
Her
extensive knowledge and experience will undoubtedly strengthen Kenya's
commitment to leveraging digital technologies for sustainable social-economic
transformation.
As
Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Ndung'u is expected to lead Kenya closer to its vision
of an informed and digitally empowered society.
In a
ceremony held at State House, Nairobi, President William Samoei Ruto noted the
importance of service delivery as he swore in the newly-reconstituted Cabinet.
The President urged the Cabinet Secretaries to be trusted stewards of public
resources and effective champions of the people's interests.
"We cannot and must not fail Kenyans," President Ruto stressed, highlighting the high expectations placed
on the new team.
He
charged the Cabinet Secretaries to prioritize the needs of Kenyans, ensuring
that government resources are utilized efficiently to drive development and
improve lives. She replaced former Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo.
