Nigeria's Minister
of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani has been appointed
by the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, to serve on the
Board of Trustees of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research
(UNITAR)
As a
member of the UNITAR Board of Trustees, Dr. Tijani will play a crucial role in
formulating principles and policies that govern the Institute's activities and
operations. He will work alongside other board members to enhance the
effectiveness of the United Nations in achieving its major objectives.
According
to him on his Linkedin social media platform, the new appointment is a win for
Nigeria, and a validation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's efforts towards
promoting economic and social development.
“My invitation to serve on the UNITAR Board is a win for Nigeria,
and an acknowledgement of the giant strides made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
towards promoting economic and social development,” he said.
“Particularly, it is a validation of our efforts and achievements
in building capacity and bridging the technology skills gap through our
initiatives including the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme, the
largest talent accelerator in the world.”
